On Tuesday May 07, 2019, the second Games Gipfel (engl.: Games Summit) took place at Cologne Game Lab. Minister President of North-Rhine Westfalia Armin Laschet invited more than 30 high-level representatives of the gaming industry from NRW in order to exchanges ideas and get input.
This time the main emphasis was the in-depth exchange about the development of the region, the conditions of funding and promotion for the gaming industry as well as an international link with partners abroad. Shortly before the summit the Minister President used the occasion to get a short glimpse of the latest book publication on game education in Germany, titled “Games studieren – wie, wo, was?” (“Studying Games”) edited by Prof. Dr. Gundolf S. Freyermuth, Prof. Björn Bartholdy, (both co-directors of CGL), Dr. André Czauderna (CGL) and Prof. Dr. Laura Breitlauch (University of Applied Sciences Trier), followed by a session of speed dating with local game developers.
The summit takes place on an annual basis and is suppose to keep a close feedback circuit between politics, industry and the academia in North-Rhine Westfalia.
