Over the course of my studies at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar I started making interactive installations and computer games instead. I continued working in this field as and artist in residence at the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe, where I mainly built robots. My first shipped game was Project: Nomads with Radon Labs Berlin in 2002. After this I worked on all Crysis games and Ryse at Crytek and on the cancelled Dead Island 2 game at Yager in Berlin. I’ve been teaching game development for 10 years when I found the time and speak regularly at game conferences. Now I am working on Robodinosaurs at Guerrilla Games and am very, very happy about it. At night I draw the adventures of Duchesse Ariadne, the famous 19th century penguin adventuress and scientist. You can follow me on Twitter: @bernddiemer.
My perspective on being part of CGL:
I like big, ambitious and cutting edge challenges that push limits so I have to stretch and grow to keep up. I enjoy learning new things and feel at home when you’re charting a new course into the unknown by stars, guts and instinct. The CGL is is all this in spades and squared. I am happy and honoured to be a member of the faculty.
